Nokia Corporation (NOK  ) shares are trading marginally higher by 0.37% premarket on Thursday after the company announced that it launched Cognitive Operations (CO). It is a commercially available platform that combines mission-critical communications, edge computing and operational AI in a single field-deployable system, initially targeting mining, public safety and defense markets.

Details

The platform provides real-time intelligence on sites and assets by integrating AI assistance, 3D digital twins, video analytics, predictive maintenance and resilient hybrid connectivity.

These capabilities are designed to improve operational visibility, minimize downtime and support mission-critical activities in challenging environments.

Nokia CO can be deployed on-premises using local IT infrastructure or hosted through the Microsoft Azure Marketplace.

Lelio Di Martino, General Manager of Cognitive Operations at Nokia, said the launch marks a major step in the company's efforts to deliver connected intelligence. He said Cognitive Operations brings AI capabilities directly into the field, providing real-time intelligence at physical operating sites.

In collaboration with Microsoft Azure and Rajant, Nokia aims to develop a future-ready platform for autonomous, mission-critical infrastructure, with public safety agencies, defense organizations and mining and construction companies among the initial target users.

NOK technical setup: key SMAs, MACD, and $10 support

At $10.80, the stock is 4.7% above its 20-day SMA ($10.30) and 3.3% above its 50-day SMA ($10.44), but it remains 10.3% below the 100-day SMA ($12.02), which keeps the intermediate trend from fully turning back up. Longer-term, it's 11.7% above the 200-day SMA ($9.65), reinforcing that the bigger-picture uptrend is still intact despite the mid-year pullback.

Momentum is best framed through MACD here: MACD is above its signal line and the histogram is positive, which points to improving upside pressure versus the prior downswing. In plain terms, when MACD is above the signal line, it suggests bearish momentum is fading and buyers are starting to regain control.

The moving-average structure is mixed: the 20-day SMA is still below the 50-day SMA (a near-term bearish alignment), even as the 50-day SMA remains above the 200-day SMA following the golden cross in October 2025. That combination often shows up in "reset" phases-where a longer uptrend is trying to reassert itself after a choppy consolidation.

  • Key Support: $10.00 - a nearby round-number level that sits close to the current moving-average cluster and a recent area where buyers previously stepped in

Below is the Benzinga Edge scorecard for Nokia, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses compared to the broader market:

  • Momentum: Bullish (Score: 94.06) - The stock is showing strong relative strength, lining up with its outsized 12-month run.
  • Quality: Neutral (Score: 48.3) - The fundamentals screen as middle-of-the-pack, so execution and demand follow-through matter.
  • Value: Neutral (Score: 46.1) - Valuation looks closer to average on this model, even as the market is assigning a premium P/E.
  • Growth: Neutral (Score: 46.43) - Growth factors are not the main driver in the scorecard right now versus momentum.
The Verdict: Nokia's Benzinga Edge signal reveals a momentum-driven setup with more mixed read-throughs on growth, value, and quality. For longer-term bulls, the key is whether the stock can keep holding above the $10.00 support zone while working back toward the 100-day moving average area overhead.
