GameStop Corp. (GME  ) is trending following the past month which kicked off with the company reportedly considering pulling its bid for eBay and closed with second-quarter earnings. The eBay Bid Reconsideration

The past month opened on August 10 with a Bloomberg report that GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen was considering withdrawing the company's $56 billion bid for eBay in favor of a potential partnership or joint venture instead. Under the alternative proposal, eBay would leverage GameStop's roughly 1,600 U.S. retail locations, potentially helping both companies expand market share in higher-margin categories such as trading cards and collectibles. GameStop, which held a 9.8% stake in eBay at the time, would also seek board representation as part of any such partnership. The report noted GameStop had not made a final decision and could still pursue other options.

Q2 Results Highlight Debt Moves, eBay Stake

GameStop reported second-quarter results on September 8. Adjusted earnings per share came in at 27 cents, in line with the consensus estimate. Quarterly revenue fell to $790.2 million from $972.2 million a year earlier, which GameStop attributed to the absence of a Nintendo Switch 2 launch tailwind, ongoing store closures and the sale of its French business - though the figure still beat the consensus estimate of $756.85 million.

As of August 1, GameStop held approximately 43.4 million shares of eBay common stock with a fair value of approximately $4.9 billion. The company also disclosed on September 3 that it completed exchanges retiring approximately $1.4 billion in convertible notes, reducing total long-term debt to approximately $2.8 billion.
