Chipotle Stock Falls as Analysts Cut Targets
Chipotle trades around $27.34, below its previous 52-week low of $27.87 and down from a 52-week high of $42.74. Chipotle has fallen around 2.81% today, extending a slide that totals approximately 8.50% over five days and 16.39% over a month. Over six months, the stock is down roughly 19.32%.
Evercore ISI Group analyst David Palmer lowered the price target to $40 Friday while keeping an Outperform rating.
More news today includes Mizuho analyst Nick Setyan, who also kept Outperform and brought the price target down to $37 from $43.
TD Cowen Downgrades Chipotle Over Slower Sales
TD Cowen analyst Andrew Charles started the wave of cuts Wednesday with a downgrade to Hold from Buy and a lower price target of $32, down from $44.
Charles points to weak October demand as a threat to the fourth-quarter rebound that investors expect. Charles cautioned that sales are "slowing," which raises questions about Chipotle's ability to boost customer traffic and deliver on Wall Street's 2027 growth hopes.
Street forecasts for 2027 call for same-store sales growth above 3%. Charles argues Chipotle may need untested levers, such as catering and more efficient restaurant equipment, to reach it, even with new menu items, marketing and loyalty programs.
Wells Fargo and Citigroup Also Cut Targets
Wells Fargo analyst Zachary Fadem reduced the price target to $40 from $45 Wednesday and kept an Overweight rating. Citigroup analyst Jon Tower made a similar move Monday, lowering the target to $43 from $45 and maintaining Buy.
Benzinga's consensus from 19 analysts is a Buy rating, with a $40.74 average target. Targets run from $32 to $53.
Chipotle releases third-quarter results on October 28, 2026. Wall Street models earnings of 29 cents per share, matching the year-ago figure, and sales climbing to $3.28 billion from $3 billion.
