Amazon Inc (AMZN  ), one of the leading names in the online shopping industry, has been discovered recently to be more relaxed towards the enforcement of basic safety rules than the company should be. NBC news interviewed 18 Amazon employees across 11 states, all of which describe numerous safety protocols that have been ignored by the staff, including upper management.

Upon consensus for the interviews, the employees claimed that Amazon's drivers are not following regulations when it comes to displaying the proper credentials. Many of the delivery drivers have not passed simple background checks and allegedly have used badges that belong to other drivers, grabbing them off of hooks on the wall to make urgent deliveries.

In the past several years, many Amazon delivery drivers have been involved in more than 60 fatal car accidents, which resulted in the death of 10 people.

Amazon employs around 250,000 people, not including the thousands of contractors that also work for the company annually. Delivery drivers have complained that an influx in packages have been too much for them to handle. A former delivery driver conveyed that Amazon did well to enforce safety regulations inside the warehouse, up until the packages were loaded onto the trucks."Once the packages are out the door, they didn't care," the driver stated.

Amazon is said to have made it to the top of the tech market due to breaking the rules and wiping out the competition, then paying for it later.

Another issue that has become common in the delivery warehouses is that the delivery trucks are being filled with packages way beyond maximum capacity. This proves hazardous because it prevents drivers from seeing out of their rearview mirrors and does not allow them to get in and out of customers driveways safely.

Some employees complained that some drivers trucks were given way more packages than they could deliver in one day while other drivers were getting just a few and was allowed to go home early with the same pay as the other drivers.

It seems that as Amazon continues to push faster deliveries for Prime members there will be more and more reports that surface that show that the pressure causes workers to ignore safety in order to meet quotas. Other retail giants that are attempting to offer one-day or same-day delivery for users include Walmart (WMT  ) and Target (TGT  ).
