Markets were lower all day today as traders position ahead of Wednesday's fed rate announcement. The Dow 30 was down 129 (-0.72%), the S&P 500 lost 16 (-0.81%), and the Nasdaq 100 was the weakest of the group, down 46 (-0.94%). Tomorrow traders will turn their attention to the retail space as economic numbers come out before the opening bell.

Microsoft (MSFT  ) kicked off the financial news cycle this morning with their announcement that they would acquire Linkedln (LNKD  ) for $196 per share. This news sent Microsft lower by 2.60%, briefly pushing under 3 month lows. As expected, shares of LNKD traded up to the offer price and held their all day. The deal represents almost a 50% premium over Friday's closing price.

Facebook (FB  ) continues to lose steam after a hedge fund manager indicated that he is short the stock and continues his bearish outlook. Shares were down 2.29% today on above average volume. Despite market weakness and today's news, Facebook can still boast a 12% gain on the year.

Apple (AAPL  ) held their world wide developer conference today where they made announcements about operating system improvements, software additions, and improvements to their voice recognition software "Siri". Shares were lower all day as the conference did not do anything to grab the attention of the bulls. Shares lost 1.51% today.

Lastly, shares of Dentsply Sirona (XRAY  ) popped to new highs today as Piper Jaffray initiated coverage. The analyst firm designated the company "Overweight", citing a strong dental manufacturer market. Shares did close at new 2016 highs, up 1.76%.
