Oracle Corp
Oracle Stock Falls While Analysts Stand by Buy RatingsOracle shares are trading lower Thursday, pulling back a day after the stock surged after the company laid out long-term targets and a funding plan, while analysts mostly kept their bullish ratings.
Wednesday's Investor Day set the backdrop. By fiscal 2030, Oracle aims for sales above $225 billion. That means annual growth over 35%, counting from fiscal 2026. The company also sees adjusted operating margin at or beyond 40% and per-share earnings, on an adjusted basis, of at least $21.
The outlook for fiscal 2027 is unchanged. Spending should crest during fiscal 2027 and fiscal 2028, then fall. Oracle says the cash left after that spending will turn positive in the back half of fiscal 2028 and climb to no less than $30 billion in fiscal 2029.
Guggenheim Keeps Oracle as Best Idea
Following the Investor Day, Guggenheim analyst John DiFucci reiterated a Buy rating and held the price target at $400, with DiFucci calling Oracle their "Best Idea."
DiFucci's core argument is that Oracle's cash flow will turn a corner. DiFucci expects free cash flow to turn positive in the second half of fiscal 2028 and stay comfortably positive in fiscal 2029. New customer deals outside Oracle's current guidance would not change that picture, DiFucci said.
Getting there takes heavy spending. Oracle faces about $220 billion in capital expenditures before fiscal 2028 ends. DiFucci expects roughly half to come from vendor financing, customer-supplied hardware or upfront customer payments. After the fiscal 2028 peak, DiFucci still sees about $150 billion more in gross spending, running through fiscal 2030, to build capacity for Oracle's revenue goals.
Paying for that spending also takes outside money. Guggenheim says Oracle plans a new capital raise of up to $20 billion, divided evenly between stock and debt, and the process could start before this calendar year ends.
On the stock, DiFucci said management eased some of the short-term pressure. Recent share moves, the analyst added, have little to do with how well the business is performing.
More news today includes Oppenheimer, which kept an Outperform rating and a $275 target, and Piper Sandler, which kept an Overweight rating and a $225 target. Earlier this week, Wells Fargo held an Overweight rating but lowered its target to $250. Analysts rate Oracle a Buy on average, with a consensus price target of $248.04.
