In the following months, the restaurant chain McDonald's (MCD  ) will release its rendition of the McPlant burger, as part of its collaboration with Beyond Meat (BNYD  ). These plant-based burgers will be released in eight restaurants across America, and will be part of a test run to gauge the success of plant-based meat within McDonald's restaurants.

McDonald's has taken its time in learning more information regarding the topic of meat substitutes, how much they attract customers, and the level of demand that they have. Beginning on Nov. 3, the McDonald's locations in which the restaurants will have the McPlant burger are at the following: Irving, Texas; Carrollton, Texas; Cedar Falls, Iowa; Jennings, Louisiana; Lake Charles, Louisiana; El Segundo, California; and Manhattan Beach, California.

Some of the components that are in the McPlant burgers are peas, rice, and potatoes. The McPlant burger will also have a slice of American cheese as well as mayonnaise.

The purpose for the release of the McPlant is ultimately to attract new consumers and to achieve new sustainability objectives. The test of the McPlant is intended to assist McDonald's with knowing and understanding the influence of a plant-based burger on its overall operations. In addition, plant-based burgers that are to be added to the menu will cause kitchen operations to become increasingly complex as well.

McDonald's has begun to sell the McPlant in various other countries as well, such as Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. A good amount of customers who use such meat substitutes from companies like Beyond Meat or Impossible Foods often speak about the environmental and health advantages of utilizing these meat substitutes.

Since McDonald's will begin to introduce the McPlant to its restaurants across America, it will surely attract new customers in ways that it had not before. It will also bring many new challenges to the restaurant and its way of being run, with another item added to the menu.
