Dollar Tree had same store visits growth of 3.1%, 1.4% and 1.2% respectively over the same three months.

The Placer.ai report found that Dollar General performs better than Dollar Tree in rural areas and is also seeing higher shopper frequency, suggesting it is becoming a staple shopping location for many consumers.

Dollar Tree will report quarterly results on Monday, March 16, giving Dollar General a chance to highlight its results and to potentially show better growth than its rival.

Dollar General raised its full-year guidance after third-quarter (Q3) results. Analysts and investors will be looking for a fourth-quarter beat and strong guidance going forward.
