Tyson Foods Inc. (TSN  ) has initiated a recall of approximately 29,819 pounds of its novelty chicken products due to concerns over potential contamination.

The recall specifically targets the brand's dinosaur-shaped "Fun Nuggets" after reports surfaced of extraneous material-small metal fragments-found within the food items, reported Reuters.

The oversight in product safety was caught by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which also shared news of the recall. The FSIS disclosed that one individual suffered a minor oral injury after consuming the "Fun Nuggets," with no further reported injuries or illnesses to date.

The recall was announced following a few accounts from buyers who discovered flexible metal pieces in the packages. The Tyson brand's 29-ounce packages of fully cooked "Fun Nuggets" are the only products implicated in this recall.

According to Tyson Foods, the production of the affected batch occurred in a single day, making the scope of the potential impact more manageable. The affected batch was manufactured at one of the company's facilities on September 5, 2023.

The product was shipped to distributors in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin for further distribution to the retail level.

Price Action: TSN shares closed lower by 1.05% at $47.06 on Friday.
