A data breach from 2017-2020 exposed the sensitive information of thousands of Roblox Corp (RBLX  ) creators. The data breach impacted attendees at the Roblox Developer Conference between 2017-2020.

Personal data leaked includes names, usernames, birth dates, email addresses, IP addresses, phone numbers, and T-shirt sizes, the Verge reports.

Roblox acknowledges the breach and engages independent experts for investigation and support. The leak was brought to attention by Troy Hunt of "Have I Been Pwned" on July 18, 2023.

The breach may have occurred earlier in December 2020, affecting 3,943 Roblox accounts.

Roblox did not publicly disclose the breach until this week, and some users received malicious calls, texts, and emails. Roblox reached out to impacted users, offering identity protection and apologies.

The leak's potential impact is concerning as Roblox has many young users, with 43% of active users under 13 daily. Roblox has a user base of 66.1 million daily active users.

This week, the U.S. government revealed a new cybersecurity label to bolster the security of smart devices.

Team Biden plans to enhance cybersecurity in the consumer electronics industry by introducing the U.S. Cyber Trust Mark.

Price Action: RBLX shares traded higher by 0.22% at $41.14 premarket on the last check Friday.
