Amazon.Com, Inc (AMZN  ) raised its free shipping minimum to $35 for non-Prime customers in some regions. To date, the free shipping minimum was $25.

Prime members who pay $139 a year enjoy free delivery on over 300 million items, CNBC reports.

Amazon had boosted the minimum free shipping to $49 from $35 back in 2016 and then revised it to $35 in 2017. It later lowered the price to $25 to rival Walmart Inc (WMT  ), which has a $35 free shipping minimum for non-Walmart+ customers.

Amazon slashed 27,000 jobs in 2023 and paused corporate hiring, joining its peers amid the current macro environment laden with uncertainties.

It also started charging delivery fees for Fresh grocery orders that are less than $150, removing a perk that gave Prime members free delivery on orders over $35.

Amazon has already leveraged artificial intelligence to speed up deliveries.

It tapped AI to drive its logistics, including transportation, where customers search for products on Amazon.

The company is amid multiple initiatives, including designing custom microchips for AWS' generative AI training, logistics and delivery mechanism restructuring, and a grocery business overhaul to unlock shareholder value.

Price Action: AMZN shares traded higher by 0.14% at $133.32 premarket on the last check Tuesday.
