Joins Jio Financial In India Joint Venture
Bank of America is set to invest 18,268 crore (around $1.9 billion) in Jio Credit through a preferential issue of equity shares and warrants.
The deal will give the firm an initial 26.5% stake, which could rise to 49.9% if the warrants are fully exercised, subject to regulatory and statutory approvals.
Under the transaction, JCL's board will have equal representation from JFSL and BofA. JCL's existing management will continue to oversee its strategy and operations.
The joint venture will combine JFSL's digital capabilities and deep understanding of the Indian market with BofA's global financial services expertise.
This strategic partnership is expected to bolster Bank of America's position in the rapidly growing Indian financial services market.
In addition, the venture will benefit from BofA's expertise in financial services, governance, risk management and technology.
