Apple (AAPL  ) debuted the iPhone14 at its latest event, and it will become available for orders on Friday. While there were rumors that Apple would announce satellite capabilities or even a virtual reality (VR) headset, there were actually no major surprises at the event which is consistent with CEO Tim Cook's tenure.

Possibly, the biggest surprise is that the company didn't increase the price of its new phones as many were expecting. In addition to the iPhone14, the company also announced a new Apple Watch and a new version of AirPods Pro that will be available on September 23.

In terms of the new iPhone, the major upgrade is the new A15 Bionic chip which improves speed and performance. The camera has also been upgraded with a larger sensor and sensor shifts for the 12-megapixel main camera. The company claims that it will produce better pictures even in difficult lighting. There are also improvements to the auto-focus feature and image processing.

The company is also transitioning to eSIMS. It also added support for crash detection due to new sensors and added satellite-connected emergency SOS.

The crash detection feature has also been added to the iWatch8. If the watch detects a crash, emergency services and contacts will be automatically notified. Other improvements include a new watch face, a larger display that is always on, and improvements in the design for better durability.

New watch faces, an always-on and larger display (thanks to smaller bezels), along with better durability are the highlights of the new series. There's better menstrual cycle tracking thanks to a new suite of features, including a new temperature sensor to get ovulation estimation, among other things.

The company also launched the new iWatch Ultra which is more rugged due to its titanium container. It also features a longer-lasting battery, night mode for better visibility, and a bezel to protect the display from impact. It also includes support for various extreme activities and endurance athletes. It also comes with cellular support.

Finally, the second generation of the Apple AirPods Pro comes with an H2 chip and new drivers for better audio clarity and detail. There are also more personalized options for surround sound, noise cancellation, noise reduction, and mic settings.
