With game streaming becoming more and more popular, other companies are trying to get in on the success. Through game streaming service, people are able to purchase and play games without gaming hardware like consoles. Currently the most well-known cloud gaming platform is Google (GOOGL  ) Stadia which launched on November 19. However, Amazon (AMZN  ) seems to not want to be outdone. A news report from Cnet claimed that Amazon is not only creating their own cloud gaming service, but the company plans to release it next year.

The online retail giant already sells games, gaming consoles and other gaming accessories. Amazon also owns the live streaming platform, Twitch. So it makes sense that Amazon will be working on it own gaming platform. Reports also claimed that Amazon has hired people from Microsoft (MSFT  ) to join their development team and help with the project. Even Amazon job listings that were posted in November showed that they are looking for more people to develop their new gaming service.

"We believe the evolution that began with arcade communities a quarter at a time, growing to the live streams and e-sports of today, will continue to a future where everyone is a gamer and every gamer can create, compete, collaborate and connect with others at massive scales," one of Amazon's job postings showed. In another job posting, the company said it wants to "drive innovative new use cases like machine vision and game streaming."

"This is a rare opportunity to take a technical leadership role to shape the foundation of an unannounced AAA games business." stated another job posting looking for a "Lead Cross Platform Game Engineer."

According to Cnet, Amazon, once the cloud gaming launches, plans to integrate its gaming service with Twitch in the future. Other details about Amazon's gaming service is scarce. Currently it is uncertain, how it will be monetize or what games will be on the service. However, what is certain is that gaming companies like Sony's (SNE  ) PlayStation and Microsoft's Xbox will need new plans in order to not lose out to cloud gaming of other companies.
