For the holiday season, McDonald's (MCD  ) hopes to boost the sales of its menu items by offering deals, like a 50-cent cheeseburger when using the mobile app. McDonald's holiday promotion went into effect at the start of December in effort to positively impact mobile order sales, something the fast-food chain has been promoting throughout the year.

Every week throughout the month of December, McDonald's will provide big holiday deals (including 50-cent Double Cheeseburgers), such as BOGO Big Macs and free 6-piece Chicken McNuggets. For every time that a customer buys anything on the app, special access will be given to rewards like Chicken McNuggets stockings, Hamburglar T-shirts, McDonald's Dream Order pajamas, and so on.

Some other examples of deals that McDonald's will be offering throughout the month of December are: buy one Big Mac, get one free, pick your four meal items for four dollars, and the Burger Bundle.

McDonald's also has introduced a contest during its "SZN of Sharing" promotional event, which has a first place of a lifelong share of McDonald's, in the form of a McGold card. This will allow winners to use the card to order two meals per week for 50 years (at a total of 5,200 meals).

"Our fans have been fascinated by the lore of the McGold Card and if it really exists," McDonald's chief marketing officer Tariq Hassan said in a statement. "Now, we'll make this McDonald's legend a reality for our fans by giving them the ultimate holiday gift - a chance to win a card and then share access to it with three of their family or friends."

The way that users can enter the contest is by making purchases from the McDonald's menu (as long as the entry is made between the dates of December 5 and December 25). Those who want to enter the contest without making a purchase can do so by giving their information (email address, phone number, and date of birth). Customers will be able to enter once per day as long as they are within the range of December dates.
