Twitter (TWTR  ) recently launched a new subscription service for its up-to-this-point free to use social media platform called Twitter Blue. Twitter Blue, which has now launched in Australia and Canada (and will soon launch in the United States), contains many features that will surely enhance the experience of Twitter social media as a whole. It is essentially a monthly subscription that includes access to features that users have been asking for.

Some of the key features of Twitter Blue are undoing a Tweet, bookmark folders, and "reader mode." Undoing a Tweet enables one to review or revise a Tweet before it is published; bookmarking folders enables one to organize bookmarks into folders, and to view content that one would later prefer to read; and putting on the "reader mode" allows one to change Twitter threads into text that is far easier to read and understand.

While the free version of Twitter is not going away, Twitter Blue is simply a way in which users are able to further customize the platform, as well as to provide creative aspects that one would have never thought possible. As a subscriber of Twitter Blue, it can be purchased for $3.49 CAD or $4.49 AUD.

In addition, Twitter Blue subscribers will obtain access to "dedicated subscription customer support," according to the company. In other words, Twitter Blue users will receive much faster customer support when it comes to resolving account or subscription issues, Twitter told The Verge.

The faster support, however, does not pertain to abuse or harassment reports, which will still go through the processes and channels for those who do not have active Twitter Blue subscriptions. Twitter's paid subscription model is a drastic change from what they had in mind before. Prior to this model, they had relied heavily on advertising for their business, but the competition that they received from Facebook (FB  ) and Snapchat (SNAP  ) pushed them to ultimately search for other sources of revenue.

Twitter Blue, a new subscription service that appeals to users' creative interests, has features that enable individuals to connect more readily and to make their experience of Twitter much stronger as a whole. Since Twitter has a great deal of competition with other social media services such as Facebook and Snapchat, they are looking for a way to stand out, and it is their hope that they will become successful in doing so.
