BofA Upgrades T-Mobile To Buy
Funk upgraded T-Mobile to Buy from Neutral and kept his $220 price forecast unchanged. He said the market has overreacted to concerns around low-Earth orbit (LEO), competition, and broader telecom disruption.
Funk said T-Mobile faces the lowest exposure to LEO broadband and wireless threats. He noted that T-Mobile has a stronger market share in dense urban markets, while LEO direct-to-device service appears to be more focused on rural and underserved areas.
Pricing Flexibility Supports Growth
Funk said T-Mobile has the most wireless pricing flexibility among U.S. operators because of its lower-priced back book. He said that supports the company's 2.5% to 3% postpaid ARPA growth forecast and could help drive revenue and margin expansion.
Funk said T-Mobile's recent selloff goes well beyond competitive risks, with the stock down 15% year-to-date and trading at a trough price-to-free-cash-flow valuation. He based the $220 price forecast on a 12.7-times free cash flow multiple, below the company's historical average of 17.3 times.
Technical Analysis
TMUS is trading just 0.7% above its 20-day SMA ($180.83), which puts it back on top of the shortest-term trend gauge and helps explain why dip-buyers are showing up here. The stock remains 2.4% below its 50-day SMA ($186.53) and 10.7% below its 200-day SMA ($203.77), keeping the intermediate and long-term trend pressure intact.
