Spotify (SPOT  ) recently launched a new website that will sell tickets to concerts and live shows directly to fan instead of redirecting users to other ticket-selling platforms. The new website, Spotify Tickets, currently provides narrow choices when it comes to available concerts in the United States.

The website lists concerts that can be reserved on the home page: under the tab listed as "My events," consumers will be able to view future and past ticket reservations. Spotify hopes to expand on the types of available concerts that users will be able to choose from in the future, but for now, the selection of musical artists remains limited.

"At Spotify, we routinely test new products and ideas to improve our user experience. Some of those end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as important learnings. Tickets.spotify.com is our latest test. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time," Spotify wrote in a statement to TechCrunch. Currently, Spotify is more focused on pre-sales than primary ticket sales.

According to information listed on the page for Spotify Tickets, users must make Spotify accounts in order to purchase tickets. Printed or mailable tickets are not yet accessible, so in order for users to claim their tickets, they must show their email confirmations and a valid form of identification. Tickets are also not able to be used or resold in any capacity at this time.

In the past, Spotify has utilized ticket platforms such as Ticketmaster (LYV  ), AXS, DICE, Eventbrite (EB  ), and See Tickets (VIVHY  ) for concert listings and reservations. Since Spotify has unleashed its own ticket booking system, "some tickets listed there [on the Live events page] are available for purchase directly from Spotify," according to Spotify support.

As Spotify is attempting to compete with vendors like TikTok, which has recently collaborated with the vendor of Ticketmaster, has its ticketing platform focused on seeking and finding concerts or other live events.
