Intel Corporation
Timeline Milestones Reached
The Santa Clara, California-based company stated on Tuesday that the Intel 18A-P node met the schedule initially shared with customers and partners in 2025.
This node represents the first performance enhancement within the broader Intel 18A process family. Intel Foundry is a direct competitor to Taiwan Semiconductor
"Our updates and presentations at VLSI signal to Intel Foundry customers and partners that we are fully committed to leading edge process innovation over the long term," said Naga Chandrasekaran, executive vice president and general manager of Intel Foundry.
Enhanced Node Performance Metrics
According to data presented by Intel Foundry engineers, the 18A-P node delivers either a 9% increase in performance at isometric power or an 18% reduction in power consumption at isometric performance compared to the standard Intel 18A node.
The updated architecture is fully design-rule compatible with the existing Intel 18A platform, which allows clients to reuse existing intellectual property and design flows.
Technical Specifications Unveiled
Intel disclosed several optimizations at the symposium, including a 20% to 40% improvement in thermal resistance through material and design adjustments.
The company also introduced Power Boost, a dual-contact, low-resistance transistor variant designed to increase drive current. Additional data from the event highlighted a 10X reduction in dynamic voltage droop and up to an 11% reduction in routed area via backside power delivery systems.
Broader Macroeconomic Relief Rally
The stock's upward momentum coincided with a broader market relief rally triggered by the Trump administration's announcement of an Iran peace deal.
FedWatch Advisors founder Ben Emons calculated that gas prices could drop by a dollar over the next couple of months, which would significantly ignite consumer spending leading into the fall.
He characterizes the end of the conflict as a "bullish" development and a "V-shaped opportunity for markets."
INTC Stock Price Activity: Intel shares were up 3.99% at $121.72 during premarket trading on Wednesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
