Google Maps (GOOGL  ) has recently announced that it is launching many new features, such as a web service that is able to determine mapping services for indoor spaces such as in airports, malls, and train stations using Live View, which utilizes augmented reality. This will make it possible to move around indoors with a live view of what is being seen from within each place.

Live View is fueled by a technology that is known as global localization, which in turn will use artificial intelligence (AI) to scan billions of Street View images in order to reach a further understanding of one's placement or location. Because of this new feature, people will more easily be able to access and to understand how to get through places that may be difficult to navigate through.

Another new feature that is being released to Google Maps is a weather feature. This particular feature will enable users to view the current temperature as well as any sort of upcoming forecasts. In addition, there will be an air quality layer to demonstrate how "healthy" or "unhealthy" the air is. This information will be beneficial to those who have allergies or who have high sensitivity to certain types of pollution.

Eco-friendly options are also being introduced to Google Maps, from the U.S. Department of Energy's Renewable Energy Lab. After a certain period of time has passed, Google Maps will first resort to routes with low amounts of carbon footprints. But for now, users are permitted to choose eco-friendly routes with the least amount of CO2 impact.

The offering of business profiles, pickup and delivery windows, fees, and order minimums of those who offer curbside grocery pickup is yet another new feature that Google Maps is going to offer. This will make the process of delivery far more convenient and efficient.

Every feature that Google Maps will offer is going to provide a new level of convenience to users, as well as a strong sense of ease of use. Although it will not be the same as it was before, it will hopefully be a change for the better, and one that encourages a more user-friendly approach.
