The "FANG" stocks suffered another round of profit taking Thursday which sent the Nasdaq 100 down almost 1%. The Nasdaq 100 ETF (QQQ  ) suffered its worst loss in almost a month as just a few names weighed in the index. This time however, market technicians noticed that the money was being rotated rather than moving to cash. The Retail sector (XRT  ) was one of those sectors to see money come in. The XRT enjoyed a 1.37% day on higher volume, hinting that money was moving back into the sector that has been struggling since the Christmas holiday.

Facebook (FB  ) wont get much attention as a weak FANG stock due to their earnings which beat expectations. The bullish announcement sent shares higher by 8% to start the day but a closer look shows that the stock suffered strong selling in the afternoon which led to a gain of only 2.92%. Add to that that market technicians consider the move a sort of blow off top.

Amazon (AMZN  ) will likely be one of the FANG stocks that gets the most attention as the week comes to a close. Amazon reported earnings after the bell Thursday which disappointed and sent shares lower 3%. This seemed to further push the Nasdaq 100 lower and spilled into Friday's trade.

Netflix (NFLX  ) may be the one that caught many off guard. Since reporting a rare, summertime earnings beat the stock has enjoyed healthy gains. Thursday, however the stock led the way, selling off first and pushing lower the hardest. Despite Thursday's blemish on the chart, the stock is still wildly popular and up over 40% on the year.

Alphabet (GOOGL  ), or Google (the "G" in FANG) has seen a wider trading range since the start of the summer, but it to was not immune to the tech sell off. Shares were lower by 1.33% on Thursday on higher trading volume. According to technical traders this, also has more room to sell off until it attracts the "discount bulls" at support.

Last month we saw the same, brief selloff in the FANG stocks but money didn't seem to move anywhere. That can't be said this time as retail and energy seem to be the beneficiary of the FANG profit takers.
