Dodge (STLA  ) recently released a new concept car known as the Charger Daytona SRT, which is anticipated to come out in 2024. This upcoming vehicle is expected to look, feel, and drive like a traditional muscle car, while also being an electric vehicle.

"The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept exists because performance made us do it," said Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis. "Dodge is about muscle, attitude and performance, and the brand carries that chip on its shoulder and into the BEV segment through a concept loaded with patents, innovations, and performance features that embody the electrified muscle of tomorrow."

The new model for Dodge comes as the company plans to discontinue its Challenger and Charger models, instead offering the Charger Daytona SRT as an electric spiritual successor.

This concept vehicle is built to appear like a futuristic, but also retro, version of the Dodge Challenger. It is specifically designed to look aerodynamic and for air to go through what is known as an "R-Wing." There are also other features that are currently in the works, such as its "Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust" and "eRupt" multispeed transmission. One feature of the Charger Daytona SRT contains a system that channels sound through an amplifier and tuning chamber that can be found toward the back of the car.

One downside to electric vehicles is that they do not possess the same driving capabilities as other types of performance cars, though they can offer high speeds in terms of linear acceleration. But, according to Kuniskis, Dodge still prides itself on its uniqueness in terms of the features and capabilities that it possesses.

"We said, 'OK, if it's going to happen, let's do it like Dodge,'" Kuniskis told reporters. "We're not going to go there and do the same thing. Dodge is going to get lost if we try to do the same thing as everybody else."

When it comes to certain specifications and performance metrics, such as range, battery capacity, or charging speed, Dodge has not quite yet revealed them. Dodge, however, did reveal that this concept car is able to charge at DC fast charging stations at rates of up to 350kW, and that all-wheel drive will ascertain that the Dodge Charger EV has optimum performance, no matter what the conditions are.
