The drone delivery company of Wing, owned by Google's Alphabet (GOOG  ), is getting prepared to reach a point of having sent out around 100,000 deliveries. This will serve as an especially important event, given that it has never occurred before with this particular technology.

At present, Wing is managed in three countries: Australia, the United States, and Finland. The most accomplishment has been found in Logan, Australia, which is where over 50,000 deliveries have been carried forth. Logan, Australia contains approximately 300,000 citizens, and Wing's services have reached around one third of the total inhabitants.

Those who utilize the Wing app are able to make orders for items such as coffee, groceries, sushi, cakes, pet food, and sportswear.

Wing spokesperson Jonathan Bass told The Verge in an interview regarding the Wing's enlargement in Logan, Australia: "[the company] can build a safe, scalable service that communities will embrace." He also goes on to add, "There are hundreds of cities around the world just like Logan in terms of size: New Orleans, USA; Manchester, England or Florence, Italy, just to name a few."

Alongside various businesses, especially and including Amazon's Prime Air (AMZN  ) and United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS  ), approvals have been obtained via the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration to run tests in the United States. One aspect of the Wing's accomplishment lies in the fact that its design is rather specific. The drones of the Wing can work as either a fixed-wing aircraft or hovering copters.

Dissimilar to the delivery drones of Amazon, the aircraft are not required to land in order to drop off items. The aircraft of the Wing fly to its destination and then place packages on the ground instantaneously.

The drone delivery company of Wing will soon reach a peak amount of success with its administering of 100,000 deliveries of goods and items to various countries. The most accomplished one, Australia, is only expanding its business even more so, which will likely further the ultimate success of Wing in the long run.
