Amazon (AMZN  ) recently announced that it had taken on Cloostermans, a Belgian robotics company that creates technology that the e-commerce giant utilities in its network of warehouses. Although the specifics of the collaboration have not yet been revealed, Amazon has been working alongside Cloostermans since 2019 in order to organize weighty items that may not otherwise be easily manageable.

According to Amazon, Cloostermans will soon become part of Amazon Robotics, which is the part of Amazon that focuses on warehouse operations. After Amazon took on Kiva Systems, which is a manufacturer of warehouse robots, this particular part of Amazon was brought about.

"We're thrilled to be joining the Amazon family and extending the impact we can have at a global scale," said Frederik Berckmoes-Joos, CEO of Cloostermans, in a blog post recently made by Amazon. "Amazon has raised the bar for how supply chain technologies can benefit employees and customers, and we're looking forward to be part of the next chapter of this innovation."

A recent report made by Amazon demonstrated that the company is dealing with an enormous lack when it comes to warehouse workers, primarily because it is struggling to find workers to hire. According to the same report, factors such as higher income and the development of more advanced technologies could be some potential ways to deal with this problem.

In more recent times, Amazon has been attempting to enlarge its robotics department, which would involve the introduction of a robotics innovation lab in Italy and R&D facilities in Germany. In both of these locations, Amazon is looking to hire particularly in the area of robotics. Since Amazon is hoping to expand on design and building abilities, the company intends to learn increasingly more about how to implement robotics in warehouses as time progresses.

"Amazon's investments in robotics and technology are supporting how we build a better and safer workplace for our employees and deliver for our customers," said Ian Simpson, vice president of Global Robotics at Amazon. "As we continue to broaden and accelerate the robotics and technology we design, engineer and deploy across our operations, we look forward to welcoming Cloostermans to Amazon and are excited to see what we can build together."
