Coronavirus Update: New York Governor Expects State to See Same Outbreak as China

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a press conference today that the state of New York is likely to see a similar spread of COVID-19 as China, South Korea and Italy. "I've said the same thing to you every day fro the past three weeks I think. You are going to see these numbers are going to go up...What makes you think that the virus in China, the virus in South Korea, the virus in Italy wasn't going to react any differently than the virus here? You are going to see the same trajectory that you saw in China, South Korea and Italy and it is going to happen here as the virus spread because of the way it is actually contagious."

American Airlines (NASDAQ: AAL) has capped its fares on U.S. routes from Europe as heightened travel volume is expected under President Donald Trump's 30-day travel ban between the U.S. and Europe. Carnival's (NYSE: CCL) Princess Cruises pauses global operation for 60 days.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo issued a ban on gatherings of 500 or more people in the state. This ban was met with similar measures made by major sports leagues and public school systems around the world.
