Hulu, Xbox Partner to Give Subscribers Free PC Games in Bundle Deal

Disney's (NYSE: DIS) Hulu recently announced the streaming platform is collaborating with Xbox (NASDAQ: MSFT) in order to provide Hulu subscribers with three months of a program known as free PC Game Pass.

This new deal, a limited-time offer, can be redeemed until July 23, and is only valid for recent Hulu subscribers located in the United States.

Typically, PC Game Pass is priced at $9.99, but there is no requirement to keep the subscription after the promotional period has ended. Some examples of titles that will be offered by Game Pass are "Halo Infinite," "Forza Horizon 5," and "Boyfriend Dungeon." In addition to new game titles, members will also be able to make use of discounts, deals, and in-game rewards, as well as new Xbox Game Studios titles as soon as they come out.

If users subscribe to PC Game Pass, then they can possibly gain access to EA Play (NASDAQ: EA), which has titles such as "The Sims 4," "It Takes Two," and "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order." It permits access to a series of titles from many different developers and allows users to stream them to their mobile devices.

This is the first time that Hulu has participated in any kind of deal with a gaming company, but Xbox has worked with Disney+ in the past.

Regarding the new collaboration with Xbox, Hulu wrote: "At Hulu, every decision we make starts with the viewer. We do this through the stories we bring to life, and by giving Hulu subscribers the opportunity to engage with their favorite shows, films and brands through select perks and activations, including the 'Hulu Friends with Benefits' initiative, Hulu's way of thanking you for simply being a fan-because that's what friends are for."

Although there is a high amount of gamers who like to play on consoles, there is also a very high amount of PC gamers. According to Statista, there are around 1.77 billion who like to play on a worldwide level, and the number is anticipated to go up to 1.9 billion by the year 2024.

Other sources such as Insider Intelligence, however, assert that the amount of PC gamers will go down in 2022, and believe that mobile games will take the lead. Apptopia reports that popular services such has Netflix's (NASDAQ: NFLX) mobile gaming services have been downloaded over 8 million times since they were first released.
