Chevron's Australian Business Signs Long-Term Natural Gas Deal Starting in 2028

Chevron Corporation's (NYSE:CVX) Australian business signed a new long-term natural gas supply agreement with South32 Worsley Alumina Pty Ltd., extending its longstanding relationship with the alumina producer.

Under the agreement, Chevron will supply 55 petajoules of natural gas over five years, starting Jan. 1, 2028.

The gas will support South32's Worsley Alumina operations, which contribute to mineral processing, regional employment and the local economy.

Chevron Supports Western Australia's Domestic Gas Supply

Chevron Australia's portfolio in Western Australia includes its operated Gorgon and Wheatstone gas facilities, which together account for approximately 40% of the state's domestic gas supply.

Chevron Australia President Balaji Krishnamurthy said the agreement demonstrates how Western Australia's domestic gas policy supports reliable energy supplies and strengthens the state's energy security.

Krishnamurthy also emphasized that natural gas will remain important as Western Australia's energy system evolves, helping provide reliable power and sustain major industries for decades.

Follows Other Long-Term Gas Supply Agreements

The South32 deal follows other long-term domestic gas supply agreements Chevron signed over the past year with Horizon Power and Alinta Energy.

These agreements reflect continued demand for reliable natural gas among customers across Western Australia.
