Arm Jumps More Than 11%: Data Center Royalty Growth Drives Post-Selloff Semiconductor Rally

Arm Holdings plc (NASDAQ: ARM) stock gained over 11% on Tuesday as traders lean into fresh AI/data-center optimism tied to the company's royalty momentum and in-house CPU roadmap, while S&P 500 futures are up 0.6%. The move follows data center royalty commentary that's keeping the stock in focus after its latest quarterly update. Last week, JPMorgan kept an Overweight rating and lifted its price forecast to $255 from $240, citing data center royalty revenue growth of more than 100% year-on-year for a second straight quarter as hyperscalers keep deploying server CPUs.

Also Needham reiterated a Buy rating and a $255 forecast, while flagging potential smartphone headwinds after unit forecasts were cut due to memory cost issues.

With markets open, the broader tape is supportive: the S&P 500 is up 0.56%, the Dow is up 1.20%, and the Nasdaq is up 1.74%.

The stock gains mark investors' return to high-growth chip stocks after a broad market selloff. Rivals like Intel Corp (NASDAQ: INTC) and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc (NASDAQ: AMD) also saw gains in stock value.

Technical Analysis

Arm is in a "reset" phase technically after a big 12-month run (up 89.04%), and Tuesday's bounce is happening with price still below the shorter trend gauges: about 2.7% below the 20-day SMA ($272.23) and about 18.1% below the 50-day SMA ($323.62). At the same time, it's holding above the longer-term trend markers-about 5.6% above the 100-day SMA ($250.92) and about 39% above the 200-day SMA ($190.70)-which keeps the bigger uptrend argument alive even as the intermediate trend cools.
